FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers. Folio Stand is in development, so features described here are plans for launch in early 2027.
About Folio Stand
What is Folio Stand?
Folio Stand is a sheet music reader for iPad and iPhone. It holds your PDF library, lets you mark it up with Apple Pencil, builds setlists, turns pages with a pedal, and syncs through your own iCloud. It is made by KKV Labs LLC.
What devices will it run on?
iPad and iPhone with iPadOS or iOS 26 or later. A Mac version is on the roadmap for after launch. Android and Windows versions are not planned.
Does Folio Stand sell sheet music?
No. Folio Stand reads music you already have: PDFs you bought, scanned, downloaded or were sent. You can use free public-domain scores from sites like IMSLP.
Will it read MusicXML or edit notes?
No. Folio Stand is a reader for PDF and image scores. It does not edit notation or convert scans into notes.
Who answers support email?
A person at KKV Labs reads every message sent to support@foliostand.com. See the contact page for what to include.
Features, sync and switching
When will Folio Stand be available?
Folio Stand is in development for iPad and iPhone. We plan to launch on the App Store in early 2027. Leave your email and we will send one message when it is live.
Will Folio Stand be free?
Yes, there will be a free plan. It reads any PDF, holds up to 15 scores and 1 setlist, keeps your annotation history, makes backups, exports everything and receives setlists from your band. Pro is planned at $49.99 a year or $7.99 a month, with a 14-day free trial.
Is there a founding offer?
Yes. People on the waitlist will get their first year of Pro for $34.99 instead of $49.99. It renews at the normal yearly price unless you cancel.
Can I bring my forScore library?
That is the plan. Folio Stand is being built to import a forScore Backup or Archive: scores, titles, tags, setlists and bookmarks. Your pencil marks come across looking exactly as you drew them, as an image layer. forScore stores marks as images, so they cannot become editable strokes.
How is your sync different?
Each score is identified by a fingerprint of the file, so the same piece can never appear twice. If two devices change the same marks, you keep both as layers. Every sync change can be undone for 30 days, and Stage Lock holds incoming changes while you perform.
Do I need an account?
No. Your music stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. We run no servers that hold your library, and the app has no ads or tracking.
Which page turner pedals will work?
Any Bluetooth page turner that acts as a keyboard, such as AirTurn, PageFlip, Donner and iRig models. You can teach Folio Stand any key, and it filters out accidental double turns.
Pricing and plans
Why is Pro a subscription?
A sheet music app is never finished. Apple changes iOS every year, sync has to keep passing hard tests, and a real person answers support email. A subscription pays for that steady work. The free plan stays useful, and your own data is never behind the paywall.
What stays free forever?
Reading any PDF, up to 15 scores and 1 setlist, annotations with version history, the import report, automatic backups, full export of your library, and opening setlists that your band sends you.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan starts with 14 days free. We plan to remind you 2 days before the trial ends. If you cancel before then, Apple does not charge you.
How do I cancel?
Through Apple: open Settings on your iPad or iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. You can cancel at any time. Nothing in your library is deleted when Pro ends, and full export always works.
What is the founding offer?
Everyone on the waitlist gets their first year of Pro for $34.99, which is 30% off. After the first year it renews at $49.99 a year unless you cancel. Join the waitlist on this page to get it.
Is there a one-time purchase?
No. We chose one simple subscription so we can keep the app updated and supported for years. The free plan has no time limit.
Will Family Sharing work?
Family Sharing is planned, so one Pro subscription can cover your family. That helps families with more than one student musician.
Do prices differ outside the US?
Yes. Apple sets local prices in each country based on our US price. The App Store shows your local price before you buy.
