Folio Stand Roadmap: What Ships at Launch and What Comes Later

Updated · By the Folio Stand team at KKV Labs

Folio Stand is planned to launch on the App Store for iPad and iPhone in early 2027. Version 1 covers reading, annotation with version history, setlists, pedals, Stage Mode, safe sync, forScore import and Send to Band. A Mac version, a metronome, audio practice tools and more importers come after launch. Dates can move: we would rather ship late than ship something that loses music.

What ships at launch (version 1)

Getting music in

  • Import from Files, folders (kept as collections), the share sheet, AirDrop and images
  • Document scanner that saves each batch
  • Duplicate detection by file content, and an import report
  • forScore library import, with ink marks as an image layer and a library rescue mode

Library

  • Title, composer, arranger, genre, key, tags, rating, difficulty and custom fields
  • Search across every field
  • On-device suggestions for title and composer

Reading and performing

  • Our own page renderer that pre-loads the next pages and the next piece
  • Single page, two pages in landscape, half-page turns with an adjustable split, crop and trim, jump links
  • Any Bluetooth pedal, learn any key, a filter for double turns
  • Stage Mode: no toolbars, no stray ink, screen stays awake, crash-safe resume

Annotation

  • Pen, pencil, marker, a highlighter under the notes, eraser, text and about 60 stamps
  • Layers, undo and redo
  • Version history for every page with "Restore marks", and a 30-day trash

Setlists and sharing

  • Ordered setlists with placeholders, print or PDF
  • Send to Band

Sync and safety

  • Sync through your own iCloud with no duplicates, keep-both conflicts, 30-day Undo sync and Stage Lock
  • Automatic backups (7 daily, 4 weekly) in a folder you can see in Files
  • Export everything, export PDFs with marks, and a library check

Support

  • Help built into the app that works offline, a "Send diagnostics" button, and a person who answers email

If automatic sync does not pass our tests in time, it launches as a manual "Sync now" with a preview of every change, using the same engine.

What comes after launch (in order)

  1. Turning imported forScore ink marks into editable strokes, opt-in for each score
  2. A metronome and audio practice with A-B looping
  3. Folio Stand on the Mac
  4. Importers for MobileSheets and OnSong libraries
  5. Hands-free page turns with face gestures
  6. Browsing IMSLP from inside the app
  7. Searching your handwritten marks
  8. A plan for directors who send music to whole ensembles

What we will never build

  • Accounts, or servers of ours that hold your music
  • Ads, analytics or tracking SDKs
  • Paywalls on your own data: export always works
  • A sheet music store
  • Notation editing, a tuner, or turning scans into notes
  • Android or Windows versions
