forScore vs MobileSheets (2026): Which Sheet Music App Should You Use?
Choose forScore if you only use Apple devices and want the most polished, feature-rich iPad app ($24.99 once, optional Pro from $14.99 a year). Choose MobileSheets if you also use Android or Windows, or want everything unlocked for one price ($15.99 on iPad). Both are deep, both take time to learn, and neither will import the other's annotations.
How we compared: this page is based on each app's US App Store listing and website, and on user reviews and forum posts, checked on 2 October 2026. We did not run hands-on tests. Disclosure: we make Folio Stand, a sheet music reader in development.

Which is easier to use?
Neither is simple. In forScore's 50 most recent US reviews, a steep learning curve is one of the most common complaints ("Need a PhD to operate it"), and forScore's 2025 redesign moved several menus. MobileSheets is often described as dense, and one comparison calls its interface "overwhelming". If ease of use matters most, try both free options first: MobileSheets has an Android trial limited to 8 songs, and forScore offers no free trial.
Which has better sync?
forScore syncs through iCloud between Apple devices. Its help pages say the newest change wins when devices disagree, and that synced data "cannot be reverted or restored". Sync is the top complaint in its recent reviews: duplicates, vanished setlists and devices drifting apart.
MobileSheets can sync over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or the cloud, and can connect to other devices running MobileSheets on any platform to share songs and setlists. This is its main advantage if your group mixes iPads and Android tablets.
Whichever you pick, keep your own backups. See how to back up a forScore library.
Which is better for page turns and performing?
Both offer half-page turns, two pages side by side, Bluetooth pedals, cropping and links for repeats. MobileSheets includes face-gesture turns and a debounce setting that stops pedals from turning two pages at once. forScore puts face gestures in its Pro subscription, and one reviewer found they worked about half the time. See page turner pedals.
Can you move from forScore to MobileSheets?
Your PDFs move easily. Annotations, setlists and metadata do not. MobileSheets has no built-in forScore importer, and its developer has suggested exporting annotated PDFs, which flattens your marks. See what transfers when you leave forScore.

Where does Folio Stand fit?
Folio Stand is our app, planned for early 2027 for iPad and iPhone. It focuses on reliability: sync that cannot create duplicates or overwrite marks, with 30 days of undo, version history for every annotation, and forScore import with ink marks as an image layer. It does not run on Android or Windows, so if you need those, MobileSheets is the better fit.
